Memorial Garden/Columbarium Vision
Project Status - August 2007
Many of you will recall that in June we asked you to consider if Greenwood Community Church should build a Memorial Garden with a Columbarium. We did not receive enough commitments to build the project per the design presented in June. We do, however, feel there is interest in this concept. We are currently looking into a scaled back redesign of the project. In the next month or two we plan to make a decision about the project after considering this redesign. This decision will then be presented to you, our church congregation. Questions may be e-mailed to MemorialGarden@GreenwoodCC.Com
Greenwood’s VisionA Memorial Garden at Greenwood would revive this cherished tradition of churchyard burial and provide our families with a sense of continuity and a way to connect the generations. As a place to meditate on the lives of deceased family members, a Memorial Garden would be a powerful witness to the one-ness with God of the living and those who have passed.
This concept has grown from the hearts of Greenwood members Hal Goble and David Nelson and has stirred a passion in the elders on the session for a Memorial Garden. As we consider the viability of this vision, we would like to know if you have a heart for a Memorial Garden at Greenwood.
We’re asking you to pray about this opportunity and then let us know your interest in a Memorial Garden by reserving garden niches in the columbarium wall for your family members (Please click on the Brochure Button).
