Small Groups

Welcome – Our Sunday Services includes 1,300 to 1,600 members, friends, and visitors. Greenwood understands that people need to communicate within groups that are smaller and directed towards the talking and listening and communicating that can only exist within a small group. We do this by helping members communicate with members in many different formats – with fewer people than a Sunday worship service.

Examples of the small group focus are Covenant Groups and Suppers for Seven. Both of these groups come together for the purpose of knowing Jesus celebrating His presence in our lives. The relationships that we give and receive are such an integral part of the Congregational Life of Greenwood Community Church.

Covenant Groups of 8 – 10 people meet regularly in homes, typically for two hours weekly or biweekly. Typically led by an experienced facilitator, the focus of each covenant group depends on the commitment (or covenant) of each individual group.  Most groups read and study various parts of the Bible, or a Christian book agreed upon by the members of the covenant group. All personal information shared in covenant groups is strictly confidential. Groups can meet for a few weeks or many years.

Suppers For Seven consist of 7 singles and/or couples who get together to become better acquainted with others in the family of Greenwood. These groups meet for supper on a basis determined by the group. Typically a group will rotate from home to home having dinner and getting acquainted with each other.  This is also a wonderful way to get to know people, that you might at a later date, want to form a covenant group with.

Throughout our Congregational Life Ministries, members serve in a variety of capacities from facilitating covenant groups, to teaching classes, to running one of the caring ministries, to assisting with the setup and cleanup of programs.  There are numerous opportunities to serve. So many have felt the call to share – as a participant as a leader. Check our calendar and  bulletin to see if there is an event or a program that is of interest. If you are ready to share, contact us. See how you and we can grow together in caring and in relationship.
