Our Logo
Our logo represents the primary focus of Greenwood Community Church, which is service as modeled by our Lord Jesus on the night before his crucifixion. The pitcher, the basin, and the towel recall Jesus’ action of washing his disciples’ feet and drying them with the towel, after which he said in John 13:14, “Now that I have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set an example that you should do as I have done for you.” For us, this service is described in our mission statement, “Caring about and for the body of Christ through relationships.”
Service to the world begins by caring both about and for. In John 21:18 Jesus tells Peter that if he loves Jesus (cares about Jesus) he should feed my sheep (caring for). At Greenwood Community Church service is not just works, it is also developing an affection for God’s people. Our desire is to serve as Jesus did by developing relationships with people in the church, the community, and the world at large.
