We will be hosting families in need who are between homes in our building, and WE NEED YOU! Volunteers sign-ups available now for the following: set-up team, dinner providers, van drivers, overnight hosts, clean-up and laundry crew. We are hosting these families one week this fall.
The families spend their days at the Family Promise center and we will help transport them every morning and every evening to and from the center. The process for licensed/insured drivers simply involves checking in at the church a few minutes before scheduled departure and safe delivery of the families to/from the Family Promise daytime center near I-70 and Lowell.
Once the families have arrived at Greenwood for the evening, we welcome them with dinner (which you can cook in our large kitchen) and clean up. An overnight host provides general support as needed, but is provided a separate room in which to sleep unless needed for the families throughout the night.
And last, but not least you can serve by cleaning up or taking home a load of linens and blankets to launder and return to the church for the next time we host.
More details available on the sign-up sheet links below (see multiple tabs for various ways to serve) or contact Carrie Froese with questions. Please note that in an effort to keep families and children safe while they visit, our volunteer drivers and overnight hosts will need to complete a simple background check before serving in that capacity in consideration of these guest families. When you sign up for either of those two positions, a follow-up email will come from Mara Doyle in the church office.
