Chattanooga Half Ironman
The Ironman 70.3 triathlon is a 1.2-mile swim in the Tennessee River followed by a 56-mile bike race followed by a 13.2 mile run. Doug will compete in the race on May 19, 2024, and he is currently training with a coach to be ready by race day. Doug is excited to invite you to partner with him in his race with the goal of raising financial resources for his friend Berhanu to purchase a more reliable car for travel throughout Ethiopia with Sports Friends and supporting church planters in Somalia among radical Muslims. Berhanu is currently driving an unreliable 1982 Toyota Landcruiser, and he does not have the financial ability to maintain it any longer. It is Doug’s hope to raise enough funds for Berhanu to purchase a more reliable car to support his ministry. Any additional proceeds raised will be used to support the church planters in Somalia with a motorcycle and goats, cattle, and grain seeds for their spouses to start small businesses.
