Men’s Ministry at Greenwood!
FIRST WEDNESDAY

Men with children of any age welcome

There is a battle for the minds and hearts of our kids and if we are not intentional with them, they will be more formed by the world rather than the heart of God and the way of Jesus. Starting Wednesday, March 2, 2022, join us for a monthly group where dads will gather the first Wednesday of the month at church (6:30 – 7:30 a.m.) to connect, learn how to be more intentional with our kids, be real with how our parenting is going, and pray for each other. We will use some of Jon Tyson’s material from “Intentional Fathers: A Practical Guide to Raise Sons of Courage and Character” in addition to other resources. All fathers are welcomed, whatever age or gender of your kids. This invitation also includes men who might be mentoring kids who don’t have a dad in their life. Please let Adam know if you will be attending so there will be a breakfast burrito for you.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is for men to serve the Lord by using their gifts and skills to serve and meet others’ needs.
The UC mission is accomplished by:
- Helping people in need of assistance with tasks/projects around their residence, especially the elderly, widowed and/or single women, those with disabilities, those with financial challenges, and/or others;
- Building supportive relationships with people in our church, the surrounding community, and wherever UC can impact people’s lives;
- Building authentic relationships between men while using their gifts and skills to serve others in Christ’s name; and
- Providing an opportunity to bring others into the body of Christ.
Our mission is achieved primarily through monthly work outings.

MONTHLY OUTINGS
“Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:40
Outing Summary
UC holds a monthly work outing, generally on the first Saturday of each month. A reminder email is sent from the UC Director to all UC contacts 1 to 2 weeks before the work outing. The email includes a list of the tasks/projects UC will attempt to complete at the next outing, based on requests submitted to UC or directly from UC participants.
We meet at Greenwood Community Church in the Longs Peak room on the 2nd floor at 7:30 a.m. for planning, fellowship, and a full breakfast. All men interested in UC are welcome to participate, even if not a prior participant. No previous signup is required, no minimum commitment is expected, and no special tools or skills are needed – just show up, ready to work!
We discuss the specific tasks/projects with the group, and participants volunteer for the particular task(s)/project(s) where they feel they can add value. Participants are then assigned to tasks/projects, and we head out in pairs (or more) to the various work sites. Any given job is usually completed by noon to mid-afternoon.
Additional work is accomplished outside the regular monthly outings on an “as-needed” basis and UC participant availability.
UC Policies
UC participants will adhere to the following policies:
- No UC participant will go to a residence/location alone (FOR ANY REASON!);
- No personal tips or compensation will be accepted (EVER!);
- Each participant is responsible for his transportation and tools;
- UC task/project material cost reimbursement is available as noted under the “Expense Reimbursement” section below;
- Donations to cover the cost of UC task/project materials and supplies (from UC participants and/or others) can be made to “Greenwood Community Church” with a memo of “Under Construction Ministry”;
- Each UC participant must fill out the forms noted under the “New Member Forms” section below.
Expense Reimbursement
Expenses incurred for UC tasks/projects may be reimbursed by completing an Expense Reimbursement Form and emailing it (with receipts) to Greenwood’s Finance Coordinator (Accounting@GreenwoodCC.com), or by U.S. mail addressed to Greenwood Community Church, or hand-delivering to Greenwood’s office.
New UC Participant Forms
All UC participants must complete the following three forms, which can be downloaded or printed from the links below. Submit the completed forms to Michelle Koenig, Greenwood’s Director of Operations, via email or hard copies. Hard-copy forms may be submitted to Michelle via U.S. mail, in care of Greenwood Community Church, or hand-delivered to the church office.
- Background Consent
To obtain the security clearance necessary for an individual to be involved in UC (or any other Greenwood ministry) we run background checks on all volunteers working with UC. The director will you give you further information so you know where and how to complete this process. - Working in Home Policy Form
This form ensures UC participants agree to a protocol where there will always be two or more participants present at all times when working at any work site.

Ministry Teams
UC utilizes a team concept to conduct monthly and “as-needed” outings and to achieve its goals. The team concept provides fellowship opportunities and proper security protections for UC participants and assistance receivers.
Ministry Broadcasts
UC uses a myGreenwood group (MEN/Under Construction) to facilitate communication between UC participants. Any myGreenwood UC contact may use the UC group email address (GCCUnderConstruction@gmail.com) to send an email to an individual within the UC group or to the entire UC contact list.

MEXICO MINISTRY
UC has partnered with the UC Blessings Ministry (UCBM) for several years, supporting the Casa Palo Chino Ministry (CPC) house/community center in Juarez, Mexico. The CPC house (“the casa”) is run by Mexican national missionaries Juan and Carmen Ambriz. Read more about the CPC here.
Future Mission Trips to CPC
UCBM occasionally hosts short mission trips to Juarez to serve Juan and Carmen’s CPC ministry. The trips provide Juan and Carmen with whatever help is most needed at the time and often involve working on “the Casa” to bring it to an entirely usable state and its eventual completion. As future trips are scheduled, UC participants will be notified.
