Spiritual formation transforms disciples of Jesus, making us more and more like him.

God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present — a living Spirit, nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face — we are transfigured, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.
(taken from The Message translation, 2 Corinthians 3:16-18)

LIFE WITH JESUS GUIDE

Discerning Your Next Step

We can see in scripture that Jesus arranged his life around three rhythms: worship, community, and mission. We have identified six core discipleship commitments that we aspire to in our journey as a disciple of Jesus. These core commitments give clarity to the rhythms and are supported by the practices. We developed a resource to help you discern your next step with these commitments and practices called, “The Life with Jesus Guide: Discerning Your Next Step.”

The Practices of Jesus

Life with Jesus
IN WORSHIP

Just as it is hardly possible to witness the colors of a sunset at the beach without a sense of delight, there’s no way to be near God and not worship. God is so glorious in beauty and goodness that when we glimpse Him, worship overtakes us. He’s just that good. Jesus practiced a life of constant, life-giving, worshipful closeness to His Father, and He has made a way for us to do the same. Practices such as prayer, solitude, and interacting with Scripture help us join Jesus in worship.

IN COMMUNITY

The Christian life is meant to be lived together with others in Christ. Together we experience God’s love, find encouragement, receive God’s word, share our gifts, and carry one another’s burdens. No one is meant to do life alone. So we invite you to dive into one of these practices as your grow and learn to love Jesus and follow His Way.

Life with Jesus
ON MISSION

Jesus came to earth on a mission for His Father: to “seek and save the lost,” “proclaim good news,” and set free “those who are oppressed.” And before Jesus left earth, He sent His followers into the world, just as the Father had sent Him. He said we are to “make disciples of all nations,” and promised He will always be with us. Jesus invites us to join Him on His life-giving mission. These are the practices that help us to go with Him into a lost and hurting world.

Complete List
of Practices

Jesus displayed a matchless beauty of character. He possessed unparalleled powers of faith, hope, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control—all in harmony with the Holy Spirit. He did this in part by living life a certain way. His lifestyle included practices that connected Him deeply to His Father through worship, to the family of God through community, and to God’s purposes on earth through mission. And He invites us to “follow Him,” to adopt His practices, so that He can shape more of His LIFE and character in us across our lifetime. We invite you—hopefully with a small group of friends—to practice with us the practices of Jesus.
